Directions: Swatara State Park is in Lebanon and Schuylkill counties, 14 miles north of Lebanon and three miles west of Pine Grove. The park is easily reached from I-81: at Exit 90, Lickdale, take PA 72 north; at Exit 100, take PA 443 west/Suedburg Rd. The part will be on your left. Keep traveling north around 13 miles until Sand Siding Road on your right. Travel down gravel road until end at parking area at rails to trails trailhead.
We will meet in the parking lot.

Dog Vomit: Stories of Earth’s Most Common Slime Mold by Lee Stark
If you’ve encountered a slime mold, it’s likely been a bright yellow Fuligo septica, commonly known as Dog Vomit. Charismatic, cosmopolitan, and maybe millions of years old, F. septica has been at the center of folktales and controversies over centuries. Could Dog Vomit be from outer space? Evidence of witches? Our relationship with F. septica might say more about us.
Lee Stark is a creative director, naturalist, and citizen myxomycetologist with special interests in common genera Fuligo, Lycogala, and Tubifera. Previously, Lee found and studied the less common species Badhamia polycephala in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and wrote about the experience in Are.na Annual. Lee is interested in the historical relationships between humans and slime molds, why slime molds are perceived as “gross” or “geniuses” in popular culture, and how we can increase awareness of this wonderful Phylum of life.

Anthoni Goodman founded and is President of the Alabama Mushroom Society, after having hunted in many places across the country, including Philadelphia for some time. His interests span identification, photography, mycophagy, microscopy, species documentation, preservation and mapping and the particular satisfaction of funding something unusual.

Tina Ellor is the Mycologist/Technical Director at Phillips Mushroom Farms. Located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, the mushroom capital of the world, Phillips Mushrooms Farms is the largest grower of specialty mushrooms.
Mushroom Dyeing Demonstration at Nixon Park (Pre-Registration Required!)
Cheryl Dawson will be presenting a demonstration and talk on dyeing fiber with mushrooms at York County’s Richard Nixon County Park https://yorkcountypa.gov/693/Richard-Nixon-Park.
She will discuss the use of mushrooms to make dyes with which one can dye certain types of fiber. During the talk, she will be demonstrating the actual dyeing process. She will also have available to view a selection of items she has created from the fibers she has dyed using mushrooms.
